How to Sell Templates on Notion Marketplace: Fees, Approval and Steps (2026)

Free Online Selling Course, Lesson 42 · Module 7: Sell Digital Products Beyond Etsy · See all lessons

If you build Notion templates, Notion Marketplace puts them in front of Notion users right where they work, including inside the Notion app. You can list templates for free, link to a store you already use, or sell directly through Notion.

Here is what catches most creators out: selling directly on Notion Marketplace needs approval. You join a waitlist, Notion says the review can take a few months, and only then can you set up Stripe. And once you are approved, your paid template’s Notion Site link redirects to Notion’s checkout, which can break the link you use on Etsy or Gumroad unless you make a copy first.

This lesson explains Notion Marketplace’s fees, how to get approved, how to publish and submit a template step by step, and how payouts and refunds work. Everything comes from Notion’s Help Center, checked in October 2026.

Three Ways to List on Notion Marketplace

  1. Free template: list it for free on Marketplace.
  2. Paid, sold through another site: list it on Marketplace and link to your Gumroad, Payhip, Etsy, or other store. No Stripe onboarding needed.
  3. Paid, sold directly with Notion: buyers pay inside Notion Marketplace. This needs approval and Stripe onboarding.

If you already sell Notion templates on Etsy, see how to sell notion templates on etsy.

Step 1: Create Your Creator Profile

Go to app.notion.com/profile and set up your creator profile. It is separate from your normal Notion profile. Add a profile photo, a cover photo, and information about yourself.

Step 2: Apply to Sell With Notion (Optional)

Only needed if you want buyers to pay directly on Marketplace.

  1. Go to app.notion.com/profile.
  2. In the Settings tab, scroll to Sell templates with Notion.
  3. Select Apply and share information about yourself and your business. You are added to a waitlist.
  4. Wait for the review. Notion says it may take a few months, and it may approve or reject submissions at its discretion. You are notified by email.
  5. Once approved, go back to the same section, select Get started, and complete Stripe onboarding.

Notion lists the countries where creators can sell directly. If your country is not on the list, you can still list a paid template that links to another site for payment.

Important: once you onboard with Stripe, your existing paid templates at their current Notion Site links become available to buy on Marketplace, and people using those links from other platforms will not be able to duplicate them. Duplicate your template and use a new Notion Site link for Etsy, Gumroad, or other platforms first.

Step 3: Publish Your Template as a Notion Site

  1. Open the page and select Share.
  2. Open the Publish tab and select Publish.
  3. Turn on Duplicate as template.

Before you submit, make sure everything a buyer needs is inside the template. If you link to other content, link to subpages within the template, or buyers will not be able to see it.

Step 4: Submit Your Template

  1. Go to your creator dashboard at app.notion.com/profile/templates.
  2. Select Start a New Template.
  3. Enter the template’s name, link, category, and language. Add screenshots and an optional video up to 60 seconds (YouTube or Vimeo).
  4. For a paid template, turn on Paid template and enter the price. Choose whether to sell with Notion or select a third-party platform under Sell with and add its URL.
  5. Choose Access locking: Restricted stops buyers from moving your template to other workspaces; Open allows it. Access locking only works when you sell through Notion or list for free on Marketplace.
  6. Set a custom URL for your listing.
  7. Write a brief and a full description.
  8. Choose an Email requirement: None, Optional, or Require.
  9. Select Submit for review, or Save to finish later.

If approved, Notion adds your template to Marketplace and sends you a link to share.

Refunds on Notion Marketplace

Buyers who purchase directly on Marketplace can request a refund within 14 days. Notion says that once a refund is processed, all copies of your template in the buyer’s workspace are removed, including copied sections and the buyer’s edits. The refund amount comes out of your Stripe balance.

Extra Tools for Sellers

  • Analytics: views, duplicates, revenue, and web vs app purchases (for templates sold directly on Marketplace).
  • Coupons: set a code, discount, dates, usage limit, and which templates it applies to.
  • Customer emails: if you collect them, download a CSV. Notion says to be respectful, never sell the emails, and honor opt-outs.

Common Mistakes

Forgetting to copy your template before Stripe onboarding. Your old link will redirect to Notion’s checkout.

Linking to pages outside the template. Buyers cannot see them.

Expecting fast approval. Notion says reviews can take a few months.

Ignoring the 14-day hold. New earnings are not paid out right away.

Key Takeaways

  • Notion Marketplace charges 8% + $0.40 per sale when you sell directly through Notion.

  • Payouts are every two weeks with a $20 minimum and a 14-day hold.
