How to Sell on Reverb: Fees, Listing Steps and Getting Paid (2026)
Free Online Selling Course, Lesson 63 · Module 12: Resale Marketplaces · See all lessons
Have a guitar, pedal, synth, or amp you no longer play? Reverb is a marketplace built for music gear, so your listing reaches buyers who are actually looking for instruments and equipment.
Here is the part that confuses many first-time sellers: Reverb has two fees, not one. There is a 5% selling fee and a separate payment processing fee, and both apply to shipping too. If you only plan for the 5%, your payout will be smaller than you expect.
This lesson walks you through how to sell on Reverb step by step, the exact fees, how shipping and returns work, and how fast you get paid. Everything comes from Reverb’s Help Center, checked in October 2026.

How Do You Sell on Reverb?
Add a billing card and set your return policy, then select Sell Your Gear on Reverb.com (or Sell in the app). Search your brand and model to autofill details, add up to 25 photos, choose the condition, write a detailed description, set shipping and price, and publish. When it sells, Reverb deducts a 5% selling fee and a payment processing fee (3.19% + $0.49 in the US) from your payout.
Reverb Fees in 2026 (US)
| Fee | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | Free | No fee to create or remove an unsold listing |
| Selling fee | 5% of the total sale, including shipping | Minimum $0.50, maximum $500 (reached at a $10,000 sale) |
| Payment processing (Reverb Payments) | 3.19% + $0.49 | Calculated on the full order, including shipping and sales tax |
| Preferred Seller processing | 2.99% + $0.49 | For Reverb Preferred Sellers |
| Cross-border fee | 1% | If a transacting bank account is in a different country (EEA excluded) |
| Currency conversion | 2.5% | If you list in a different currency than your payout |
PayPal orders: Reverb says PayPal charges its own processing fee, so it does not show on your Reverb Earnings page.
When fees are paid: Reverb says fees are deducted directly from your payout. Extra shipping labels bought from Reverb are billed to your statement.
Work out your payout: our free Reverb fee calculator shows the selling fee, processing fee, and what you keep.
Example: Selling a $500 Guitar With $40 Shipping (US, no sales tax)
| Amount | |
|---|---|
| Total sale (item + shipping) | $540.00 |
| 5% selling fee | $27.00 |
| Processing fee (3.19% + $0.49) | $17.72 |
| You receive before your shipping cost | $495.28 |
If sales tax is collected, the processing fee is a little higher, because it is calculated on the full order including tax.
How to Sell on Reverb Step by Step
- Add a billing card and set your return policy. Reverb requires a valid billing card on file to list. With Reverb Payments, payouts go to the bank account in your Shop Policies.
- Select Sell Your Gear on Reverb.com, or Sell in the app.
- Search the brand and model. Choose Sell One Like This to autofill product details and get pricing help, or start from scratch.
- Add product info: make, model, year, and more. Tick “I handmade this item” if it applies.
- Upload photos. Up to 25 photos, at least 620 x 620 pixels and up to 1600 x 1600 pixels. Show every blemish or scratch. Your first photo shows in search, so make it the whole item.
- Choose the condition and write a detailed description. Reverb asks sellers to disclose blemishes, quirks, and even smoke or pet smells.
- Set shipping: calculated USPS or UPS rates, free shipping, a flat rate, or local pickup only.
- Set your price and choose whether to accept offers. Reverb shows pricing guidance and estimated fees.
- Review and Publish.
Returns on Reverb
You set your return policy. You can also mark an item as sold “As-Described.” Reverb says buyers then cannot return it for preference reasons, but you must still accept a return if the buyer reports it is not as described within 7 days of delivery and provides documentation.
How Fast You Get Paid
With Reverb Payments, according to Reverb:
- First sale: funds are available 1 to 2 business days after the item is delivered, based on tracking.
- After your first sale: funds are available 1 business day after you add a valid tracking number showing package movement.
- To your bank: it may then take 1 to 4 business days to appear.
- Shipping deadline: ship within 3 business days.
Reverb Payments is available to sellers in the US, Canada, and parts of Europe.
