1. New Rules for AI and Listing Photos
What changed. In an announcement from Etsy’s Vice President of Customer Operations, Etsy said it is updating its Listing Image Requirements policy and adding new limits on AI use:
- At least one unedited photo. Your listings must include at least one unedited photo of the actual item against a real background. Etsy says some exceptions may apply depending on what you sell.
- Accurate photos. All photos must accurately represent what the buyer will receive.
- New AI restrictions. Etsy is prohibiting bot-generated listings and AI-generated functional guides, such as patterns, recipes, and instructions.
- New reporting option. Members can flag listings they believe use AI imagery in a misleading way. Etsy says reports will at first help it understand concerns and will not trigger immediate enforcement.
Etsy’s stated belief is that “AI should support your creativity and craftsmanship, not replace them.”
What to do.
- Check each listing has at least one real, unedited photo of the item.
- Make sure mockups and edited images still show exactly what the buyer gets.
- If you sell patterns, recipes, or instructions, make sure they are your own work, not AI-generated guides.

2. Share and Save: Zero Transaction Fees for the Holidays
What changed. Etsy is refunding the full 6.5% transaction fee on eligible orders that come through your Share and Save links. Etsy says this applies through January 4, 2027, after which the refund goes back to 4%.
If you are already enrolled, the offer applies automatically. If not, you can join Share and Save in one click from Shop Manager.
Etsy also shared that among sellers who joined during Cyber Week 2025, about 29% of buyers purchasing through their links each month were brand new to Etsy.
What to do.
- Join Share and Save if you have not already.
- Use your Share and Save links on Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, your email list, and your website.

3. Cyber Specials: Etsy’s Biggest Sale of the Year
What changed. Etsy opened opt-in for Cyber Specials, its sitewide sale event running from November 23 at 12:00am ET to December 1 at 11:59pm ET.
- To join, offer at least 25% off an item during the sale dates.
- Sellers who opted in by October 27 were eligible to be picked for Etsy’s sale marketing.
- Etsy says 66% of sales during last year’s Cyber Specials came from items on sale.
- Joining is optional.
What to do. Go to Shop Manager, then Marketing, then Sales and Discounts, and select Cyber Specials. Before you join, check that your prices still leave a profit after a 25% discount and Etsy fees.
4. Clearer Listing Removals and Expanded Appeals
What changed. Etsy’s Trust and Safety team announced:
- More detailed reasons on the Policy Violations page, explaining why a listing was removed and how to stay compliant.
- Expanded listing appeals. After piloting appeals for Creativity Standards violations, Etsy is expanding appeals to more policy areas and more sellers. Etsy says that by the end of 2026, all sellers will have access to appeals across most policy areas.
What to do. If a listing is removed and you think it was a mistake, check your appeal options before you create a new listing. Etsy notes an appeal may help you avoid another policy violation and another listing fee.
5. EU Customs Changes (for Sellers Outside the EU)
What changed. If you ship physical items from outside the EU to EU buyers, two changes start on November 1, 2026, according to Etsy:
- New €2 Union handling fee per unique item per package, regardless of package value. Etsy says this is separate from the €3 customs duty introduced in July, and VAT may also apply.
- Product Identifier (PID) data is required for imports valued under €150. Carriers generally need a Merchant Product Identifier (like a SKU or listing ID) and a manufacturer or supplier code (like a SKU or model number).
What to do.
- If you buy shipping labels on Etsy, Etsy accounts for the new fee and adds the product identifiers automatically, using your listing ID and SKU.
- Review the SKU on each listing in Shop Manager, under Pricing and Shipping, then Price and inventory. If you sell variations, give each one the correct SKU.
- If you buy labels elsewhere, ask your carrier how to submit the identifiers. Do not leave the fields blank.
6. New US Postal Customs Rules (for Sellers Outside the US)
What changed. Etsy says that starting January 20, 2027, international postal packages valued at $2,500 or less entering the US must be filed electronically through US Customs and Border Protection’s new Entry Type 13 process. Postal carriers will collect shipment-level customs data, plus any documents that agencies like the FDA or CPSC require.
Etsy lists examples of products that may need extra information, including food, supplements, candles, toys, children’s clothing, certain jewelry, items with animal or plant materials, and products applied to the skin. Express carriers like FedEx, UPS, and DHL already collect this data.
What to do. Etsy suggests connecting your shop to a free Zonos Verified Account to check whether your items can ship to the US or need extra documents. Missing information can cause packages to be held or returned.
7. Shared Access for Team Members
What changed. Shop owners can now invite up to five team members to help run the shop with their own Etsy accounts, so you never share your password.

What changed. Etsy launched new custom options fields. You can add up to five fields per listing to collect text, choices, and file uploads from buyers. Etsy says listings using these fields moved orders from purchase to shipment faster in its beta program.
What to do. In Shop Manager, go to Listings and add one or two fields to a personalized listing to start.
9. Newer Listing and Payment Tools
